Volunteers

At Skate Kingston the professional coaches, the CanSkate/StarSkate Coordinators and the Administrative Staff are all paid for their services. However, if it were not for the club volunteers Skate Kingston would not exist!

Volunteers are required at all levels of Skate Kingston's operation from the President to the Skate Guard Collector1. Unfortunately, because so many of us live increasingly busy lives it is very difficult to find time to devote to volunteer work. This tends to leave the volunteer work on the shoulders of fewer and fewer dedicated volunteers who soon become burned out!

And yet the work is not difficult if it is shared among all skaters and parents. This page is intended to encourage you to volunteer to help your club.

Staff Volunteers
Here are some examples of the volunteer positions that are required right now or in the very near future for the Club Competition and the Ice Show!

Music Players
Ice Captains
Dressing Room Coordinators
Announcers
Skate Guard Collectors
Registration Assistants
And many more!

If you are interested in assisting with Test Days, the Club Competition, the EOSIC Simulation Send-Off, or the Ice Show please let one of the Club Directors know.

Board of Directors
Are you interested in changing the way the club is run? Please get involved! You can make a difference to the club for all skaters.

Webmaster Note 1. As a former Ice Show Coordinator, I know that Skate Guard Collectors are absolutely essential to the smooth, uncluttered flow of ice performances. Their task is by no means at the low end of the totem pole but I used the position to demonstrate the wide range of volunteer positions available! DT
