CHILD FITNESS TAX CREDITS
(Page updated 12 June 2010)

CHILD FITNESS TAX RECEIPTS for skating lessons with Skate Kingston, will be available for the previous tax year. Please review the steps below. The SK Office Administrator, can assist you if you have any questions. (See more below.)

The information that follows explains how to obtain a receipt for the children's fitness tax credit. Please be aware that there is a maximum credit of $500 per child and the fitness program must be of at least eight weeks in duration. In addition, children must be under 16 years of age, at the beginning of the year in which the expense is being claimed. Also, expenses can only be claimed for the year in which the fees are paid, regardless of when the program takes place. Please refer to the Revenue Canada Agency website for additional information.

You will need your child's ten-digit Skate Canada Membership Number, which is listed on your child's registration card. You will have received their registration card sometime during the skating session in which your child skates. If you did not receive their card or you do not have the child's number, please contact the SK Office Administrator in the Skate Kingston office.

If your child has registered for a skating program but did not yet receive a new card for the year, their Skate Canada Membership Number will be the same as last year's number:

1. Log on to the Skate Canada website at www.skatecanada.ca.

2. Click on "MEMBERS ONLY" at the top of the screen.

3. Enter the 10 digit Skate Canada Membership Number and your child's last name, (or change the password) and click LOGON at the bottom of the screen.

4. Once you are logged on, choose PERSONAL PROFILE and then select CHILD FITNESS TAX CREDIT RECEIPT.

5. Print the receipt.

If you have any problem obtaining the receipt or if you have any questions about the amount of the receipt, please contact the SK Office Administrator at 613-544-4442 ext 1892.
