RECREATIONAL GROUP CANSKATE, PRE-POWER and ADULTSKATE PROGRAMS
CanSkate, Pre-Power and AdultSkate Programs are Learn to Skate
Programs where skaters receive group instruction alongside skaters having the same, or similar
skating abilities.
These learn to skate programs include:
CanSkate: Mon 6:05-6:50pm; Wed 5:30-6:15pm; Thurs 6:00-6:45pm; Sat 10:05 -10:50am.
(See Important Dates for actual days.) Canskate is a
skating program for skaters 3½ and up who are learning to skate and who are able to go on the ice unassisted
by a parent. This 45 minute program allows skaters to continue to master basic skating skills that include
skating forwards, backwards, jumping, spinning, turning and stopping. Skaters receive ongoing incentives
and report cards in December and March. Total Cost: $160 for 10 sessions (fall or winter), $275 for 20 sessions (fall and winter).

Parent and Tot: Mon 6:05-6:50pm; Wed 5:30-6:15pm; Thurs 6:00-6:45pm.
Parent and Tot is a skating program for skaters 3 and up who need the help of mom or dad. This
45 minute introductory program allows the young skater to learn to skate with one of their parents on ice with them.
The parent needs to be able to skate on his/her own to participate in this program. Skaters receive ongoing
incentives and report cards in December and March. Total Cost: $199 for 10 sessions (fall or winter)(1 skater and 1 parent),
$310 for 20 sessions (fall and winter)(1 skater and 1 parent).
New This Year A 30 min introductory program for Parent and Tot: Sat 9:30-10:00am $160 for 10 sessions (1 skater and 1 parent)
PrePower: Wed 5:30-6:15pm and Thurs 6:00-6:45pm PrePower is a 45 min. introductory program geared
to children approximately 5-9 years of age. Designed to teach basic power skating skills, this program
focuses on fundamentals including balance skills, forward and backward skating, stopping, turning, and
agility skills. The Pre-power group is on the ice during the CanSkate session. Total Cost: $160 for 10 sessions
(fall or winter), $275 for 20 sessions (fall and winter).
Adult Learn to Skate (LTS): Thursday 8:00-8:50 pm Adult LTS is a skating program for adults learning
to skate. It is never too late to learn to skate! Adults (and teenagers) of all ages can enjoy learning to
skate in a relaxed and friendly group lesson atmosphere. Skaters receive ongoing incentives and a report
card in December and March. Total Cost: $199 for 10 sessions (fall or winter), $310 for 20 sessions (fall and winter).
All group lessons begin the first week of October. There are fundraising fees for group programs however the
Skate Canada fee is included within the program price. Register soon as space is limited.
Skate Canada Helmet Use Policy:
Effective May 1, 2011 Skate Canada has a new policy on Helmet Use. This policy states
that all Skate Canada clubs who offer a CanSkate programs must ensure that all CanSkate and Adult CanSkate
participants up to and including Stage 5 must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet while on the ice. This new
policy will be enforced during all skating activities - competitions, ice shows or any other special on ice
activities. Therefore, effective immediately, any skater that has not passed Stage 5 must be wearing an
approved helmet in order to go on the ice.
