Skate Kingston will be comprised of skaters from the former Kingston Skating Club and the
former West Kingston Skating Club, resulting in between 100 - 120 StarSkaters. Those
skaters must be separated in terms of their abilities, so that they are working on similar
elements, but above all, they must be separated in terms of speed, agility and numbers,
for the safety of all skaters. Therefore we have created a four skating level matrix that
is a compromise of the level criteria of the two former clubs. This standard or model fits
the average or majority of skaters. We realize this standard / model will not fit every
skater perfectly, therefore exceptions will be considered as necessary, to shift a skater
either up or down a level as required.
When you register to skate with Skate Kingston during our 2008-09 season, please reference
our skating level matrix when determining the appropriate StarSkate level for your skater.
Our matrix above reflects:
a. A CanSkater may move up to StarSkate A once they have passed their CanSkate level 4.
b. A StarSkate A skater may move up to StarSkate B once they have passed Skate Canada
Preliminary Freeskate AND either Preliminary Skills or Preliminary Dance.
c. A StarSkate B skater may move up to StarSkate C once they have passed Junior Bronze
Freeskate AND either Junior Bronze Skills or Senior Bronze Dance.
d. A StarSkate C skater may move up to StarSkate D once they have passed Senior Bronze
Freeskate AND either Senior Bronze Skills or Junior Silver Dance.
