Jamie and Laurence at Autumn Skate

Jamie Forsythe, representing Skate Kingston EOS, and Laurence Darveau, representing Boucherville Centre Elite QC formed their new senior dance partnership in May 2009. Even though they have only been training together as a dance team for less than 6 months, they have already competed in three invitational competitions since the season started in August. When not training, Laurence, turning 18 in October, is a full time high school student. Jamie, 22, is continuing with virtual learning courses at both Concordia University and Athabasca University and is also a figure skating coach when he’s not training with Laurence. As a Senior Dance Team they represent Quebec. Up to now, the three competitions they have entered have run each component of Ice Dance as a separate competition, as is typical of Invitational Competitions. Jamie and Laurence have two qualifiers to earn a position at the Canadian National Championships. Given these results, achieved as a competitive team over a short time, a postion at Nationals is certainly an achievable goal. Once Sectionals begin, 29 October 2009, all scores are added together for placement. Skate Kingston wishes Jamie and Laurence the very best at Sectionals and beyond!
